Origin – Madagascar Sofia River basin in the northeast of the island

Natural environment – exclusively in freshwater environments. Forested rivers and streams, Occasionally in swamps and marshes.

Practical tank setup ideas – Fresh water planted/Low level water with river stone setup. Medium water flow with lots of hiding space, Minimum tank size should be 2/1/1 ft. for group of 6

 

Water condition- slightly acidic (pH 4.5–6.5).Medium to slight hard water will be ok

Temperature- 20–32 °C

Size at maturity –6 inch

Expected life span – 4 years-9 years

Tank mates – tetras/Discus/Cory cats/

                             Will do good in species only tank too.

 

Food habits – live / frozen bloodworms, flakes, small / almost fine powdered dry foods

Filtration system – HOB or canister according to tank size

Cultivar of Rotala Routandifolia  Care & Propagation  - The best part about this plant is it can shows color and healthy growth under ordinary light too (0.5-0.75 watt per litter). Nutrient rich aqua soil and minimum to moderate CO2 needed for optimum growth and coloration. It can survive in non CO2 planted tank. In non CO2 planted aquarium it will shows slight greenish yellow coloration. Its a fast growing plants. Produces lots of stem cutting in CO2 induced tank.
