Origin – Orinoco and Negro Rivers in South America

Natural environment – it is native to black water streams

Practical tank setup ideas – Black water setup with lots of wood and leaves. Fresh water dense planted setup. Minimum tank size should be 2/1/1 ft. for a group of 8-12. Setup with dimmed or spot light looks good.

Water condition - Cardinal tetras should be kept in soft acidic (< 6° dh) water with a pH range 4-6.5

Temperature- 24–28°C

Size at maturity –1.2 to 1.3 inch

Expected life span – 3 years-5 years

Tank mates – small sized tetras/other small rainbows/small corycats/rasboras/danios. It’s a shoaling fish better to keep with non aggressive tetras.

Food habits – live / frozen bloodworms, flakes, small / almost fine powdered dry foods/daphnia

Filtration system – HOB or canister according to tank size.
