Betta Fish Care

 

A fancy Betta fish ( Half moon/Over Half moon/Vail tail/ Plakat/Crown tail/) can live 1-3 years with proper care, setup. But in hobby many people complaining about they died soon, problem of fin rot , inactive fish , dull coloration. and here the little solution for you.

First of all its all about space- yes exactly half of your problem will disappear if you give him a proper sized tank. Do not put your Betta in  8 inch/10 inch bowl or a 6 inch cube glass box. Give him a minimum 1 ft. cube aquarium and he will love it. There will be less inactivity and eventually you will see a healthy active pet.

Aquarium Setup- Betta needs only little water ; this theory is absolutely wrong. you need a proper setup for your buddy. Put some fine substrate add some wood branches some dry almond/guava/jackfruit tree leaves. or some hardy plants setup like Vallisneria sp, Anubias sp, Guppy grass etc. add little Almond leaf extract and pinch of rock salt according to tank size. And now your tank is ready for a healthy Betta.

u can put smallest HOB filtration system and the flow should me minimum.

Water change schedule- This is absolutely mandatory. you definitely need to change 20% water weekly basis for a healthy fish.

Fish Diet- Betta needs pinch of protein rich food. Live food like Bloodworms or good quality dry food preferable. They have tendency to overfeed. and fasting day recommended once a week.

Thermostat at Cold- Yes you need it if your water temperature is bellow 15 c. Set the thermostat at 24 c and as its a small tank put a thermometer to monitor overheating.
